Route selection is alarmingly chaotic. We have a general idea which direction we are heading, and we talk to anyone who we can understand to find out where they have been and where they are going. This helps us to decide where we will go tomorrow. Then we look at the map, on which the Michelin man has thoughtfully highlighted scenic roads in green and identified interesting places with a three -star system. That is how we ended up in Albi (ooh look, three stars; let's go there). One day, we may invest in a guide book ...
We also select the very minor roads whenever possible, which sometimes introduces navigation challenges but ALWAYS takes us to someplace interesting. Yesterday we ended up riding for about 15 km along a ridge through farmland and I swear that we could see 30 km in all directions.
did you check out the bendy trail just south of the 'M' in Melvieu ?
