We have been cycling for several days through what we were sure were Nutella forests. After some research we determined that they were in fact chestnuts and not hazel nuts. We have seen them for sale in markets ( châtaigne ).
Part way through our first big climb of the day, we crossed some invisible line and olive trees began to appear. These are usually indicative of good places to ride (ie. hot and dry)
The orange fence in behind the silent playground in our very tranquil campground of two days ago is in fact electrified. Wild pigs range up and down the creek at night; the owner says that they are delicious, but make a mess of the landscaping and on the balance are best kept out.
