We paid a visit to the town of Ruinerwold and the monument to my uncle Bob Roos and his five fellow crewmen, shot down on their return from a mission to Germany.
This trip was elevated to 'adventure' status thanks to the remnants of hurricane Gonzalo, random rail delays and the attentive rail official who threw us off one of our return trains by virtue of the "no bicycles during rush hour" rule. We just got on the next (basically empty) train that came along, but it technically raised our daily train total to five, shattering the record only just established on Sunday.
Celebrated the new record with a nice Italian dinner.
Thanks to Bob and his fellows, we live in a world where we are free to travel where and when we choose.
nice
