We have found a lovely campsite here, but it feels like our luck may run out soon. The owner is shutting the gates and heading on vacation to Greece the moment that the last scheduled guest leaves at the end of the week. Sept 30 or Oct 15 seem to be the close dates for most others.
We went to the Gare in Carcassonne to check our options for trains; the first person that we asked spent a great deal of time on her terminal, then informed us that there was really was no way to get us and our bikes to Amsterdam.
We continued our inquisition and found semi-hourly options to get to Bordeaux, from which we already know that we can TGV all the way to Lille. If the people at Lille cannot find a solution, we will cycle across the border and into Belgium, where travel by train with your bicycle is considered a basic human right!
