Recent heavy rains followed by a period of warm, humid weather have awoken the Kraken! Clouds of ravenous mosquitoes are making outdoor life along beaches and particularly in campgrounds unbearable. "I'd sooner be in the bush outside Paisley in the spring or hiking in Manning Park", one visiting cyclist was overheard saying.
Campers fled inland seeking drier conditions, and were rewarded with a small campground just outside Carcassonne where are now relaxing in bug-free splendor. It closes in three days, but for now provides a great base camp.
